Import a book, document or pasted text
Choose Books and text to import a PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT, FB2 or RTF file from your device, or paste a passage directly. Select one of the 78 translation languages and a narration voice.
PDFs need a selectable text layer. Scanned pages are not processed with OCR, and DRM-protected books are not unlocked. Website URLs are not an import source. Use a supported document containing text you are allowed to translate.
Read the translation and listen to narration
iDub prepares translated text and spoken narration for your document. Read and listen together, with word highlighting when speech timing is available. If timing data is unavailable, prepared narration can still play while you read the text.
Your local library retains the source, prepared translation and audio, and your listening position. Return to a saved book and continue where you left off. Book narration cannot currently be downloaded or exported.
Prepare your first translation
- Connect your own Gemini API key in iDub’s settings.
- Import a supported file or paste text, then choose your language and voice.
- Prepare the translation, start listening and keep the book in your library to return later.
Preparing new sections requires an internet connection and available Gemini access. Already prepared text and audio remain on your device for reuse. Google’s quotas and API charges apply to your key. For import or preparation problems, see book troubleshooting.
