1. About these Terms
These Terms cover the iDub apps for iOS and macOS, its website and translation service. Contact us at support@idub.live. By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
You must be at least 12 years old to use iDub. If you are below the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms and supervise your use. If acting for an organization, you must have its authority. The Privacy Policy explains our data practices.
2. Translation and its limits
iDub helps you hear and read translations through Video & audio (From apps and Audio / video file), Nearby speech (Listen live and Conversation), and Books and text. There are 78 language options. Available features depend on the device, operating system, source app or file and Google service. New translation and narration require an internet connection; prepared book audio and text are saved locally for reuse.
Translations can be wrong, incomplete or delayed. Noise, accents, overlapping voices and connection problems can affect results. Check important information with the speaker. Do not rely on iDub for emergency communication or as a substitute for qualified medical, legal or other professional assistance.
From apps works only when the source permits audio capture. References to YouTube, podcasts and lessons show possible uses; they do not promise compatibility with every video, subscription or app, or imply endorsement by those services. Website examples are illustrations, not live translation or playable third-party content.
Books and text accepts supported documents or pasted text. PDF import requires an extractable text layer; scanned pages are not processed with OCR and protected documents are not unlocked. Website links are not an import source. Prepared book audio stays inside iDub and is not currently available for download or export. Media file translation supports transcript export, not export of a translated video or audio file.
3. Your key, costs and responsibilities
You supply your own Gemini API key and manage its permissions, billing and usage limits. Gemini may be used at no cost within the available quota. You can enable Google billing if you need Gemini’s paid tier; otherwise, the available free quota applies. This website does not sell subscriptions or process payments. Any app price will be shown by the distributing store before purchase; store payment and refund rules apply alongside your statutory rights.
You must comply with the Gemini API terms, including age and regional eligibility. API clients available in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK require Google’s Paid Services. Keep your key private and revoke it through Google if compromised. Review Google’s applicable data handling before starting a session.
Only capture and translate speech or content you have permission to use and share with Google. Obtain consent where required. Do not use iDub for covert surveillance, harassment, unlawful recording, copyright infringement or bypassing protected content, access controls or source-app restrictions.
Free and Plus on iOS and macOS
On iOS and macOS, Free includes 30 minutes per day on your device, shared across Listen live, Video & audio (From apps / Mac audio and Audio / video file), and first-time listening in Books and text. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC.
In Books and text, only actual time spent listening to previously unheard portions counts. Importing a book, preparing audio, pausing, seeking and replaying heard portions do not use the allowance. When the allowance is exhausted, playback pauses before unheard audio; heard portions remain free to replay, including on later days. For example, at normal playback speed, if you have 5 minutes left and a new excerpt lasts 8 minutes, time is deducted as you listen and playback stops after 5 minutes. You can replay those heard portions for free; continuing into unheard audio requires the next daily allowance or Plus.
iDub Plus removes the iDub daily time limit and unlocks Conversation and full transcript copying/export in supported modes. Plus does not include Google Gemini API usage. Google’s quotas, availability and any charges remain separate, including with Plus. Gemini may be used at no cost within the available quota; Google billing can be enabled for its paid tier, subject to the regional requirements above.
Plus is offered as an auto-renewing weekly or yearly subscription. Available prices, billing periods and any eligible trial are shown in the app before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. Restore purchases is available in the app.
4. Your content and third parties
You keep any rights you have in your audio and other content, subject to the rights of others. We do not claim ownership of your recordings, captions or translations. You authorize only the processing necessary for the features you request. You remain responsible for lawful use and sharing of the resulting content.
Google Gemini, operating-system capture features and source applications operate under their own terms. They may change access, quotas, prices, models or availability. We cannot guarantee continued access to them or override their restrictions.
5. App license and website materials
For an iDub app obtained through Apple’s App Store, the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) governs the app license unless a separate license is supplied through the store. These service and website Terms supplement it and do not replace it. If they conflict over the app license, the applicable EULA controls.
For any other authorized distribution, the license supplied with that release governs use of the software. Store availability is not promised by these Terms. iDub’s original branding, software and website materials belong to their respective rights holders. Do not redistribute or exploit these materials without permission, except as allowed by law. Third-party names and marks belong to their owners.
6. Availability and ending use
We may update or discontinue features, or take proportionate steps to address misuse or security issues. Where required, we will provide notice and any remedies owed under applicable law. You may stop using iDub at any time; see data deletion help for local storage and key controls.
Support for iDub is available through our support page. Apple and Google do not provide support for our translation implementation; their own services remain subject to their terms.
7. Responsibility and consumer rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is offered as available without a promise of uninterrupted access, perfect accuracy or compatibility with every source. We are not responsible for losses caused solely by misuse, unauthorized sharing or a third party’s service failure, except where the law requires otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms excludes responsibility for fraud, intentional misconduct or other liability that cannot lawfully be limited. These Terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, refund rights or remedies. The applicable app EULA may set additional terms for the software license.
8. Questions and disputes
Please contact support first so we can try to resolve an issue. These Terms do not impose an exclusive court, mandatory arbitration or a waiver of any forum or protection available under applicable consumer law. The governing law and competent courts are determined by applicable legal rules and, for the app license, its EULA.
9. Changes
We may revise these Terms to reflect service or legal changes. We will provide notice of material changes and obtain agreement where required by law. Changes do not retroactively remove rights that have already arisen.
